Mr Fogg & Bandstocks : The What and The Why

The What:

I'm currently in the middle of making my debut album with Valgeir Sigur∂sson (Björk, múm, Bonnie Prince Billy) at his Greenhouse Studios in Iceland. I went over in July to record the first two tracks, and after another couple of trips in December and January the record will be finished and ready for a first single in March and an album in May.

If you've been reading the rest of this website, you'll know that there's a twist that means you can get involved in the process. I'll leave the ins and outs to the experts, but essentially you can buy "Bandstocks" in the project in return for a share of the album's proceeds over the next 5 years as well some other perks and benefits like priority booking for live shows.

The Why:

2 years ago I self-released my first E.P without a label, and watching those first songs pick up support from the likes of Radio 1, XFM and 6 Music was one of the most rewarding parts of my career so far. As the scale of the process increased, so did the need for outside involvement and since then I have worked with labels major and minor on my records, but none of them have given me the same level of creative freedom - or satisfaction - as the DIY route. Bandstocks gives the artist all the creative freedoms of having their own label, while providing the infrastructure and expertise required to fulfill their ambitions. And let's face it, with the music industry in its current state, it's about time for some new ideas.
